Welcome to our new mail order catalogue for winter 2008. We hope you enjoy our selection of bulbs and perennials for this season.

Mail orders: We accept orders from all states (except WA) by mail, facsimile or email, between April and September 2008. If you wish to place an order after this time, please contact us for a 2009 catalogue, which will be issued in April 2009. Orders are processed in the order in which we receive them, and sent with Australia Post; the first orders will be posted on approximately 12th May. The plants are posted bare-rooted and will need to be planted or potted up immediately upon arrival. We are a small nursery and orders take at least 4 weeks to process, sometimes longer in the first few months of the season. We assure you that it’s worth the wait though, and we appreciate your patience! Please note some plants are in short supply so we advise ordering early in the season.

All our stock are propagated and trialled here at the nursery and are guaranteed to leave the nursery in good condition, ready for planting. Note that most perennials are dormant in the winter, and will not show a great deal of top growth until spring. Planting in the ground during the winter is highly recommended however, as these plants will develop good roots before the onset of warmer weather, and acclimatise far better than those plants planted in spring and early summer.

Please advise us on your order form if you are planning to be away at any time, so we can take this into account when processing your order.

Choice of Plants: Although we distribute plants to all states in Australia (except WA), it is not feasible to list only plants that will do equally well in every microclimate. Each season, we continue to be surprised at the wide range of conditions our perennials, shrubs and bulbs will tolerate.  However, we do encourage you to do some research into which plants are most suitable for your own climate. For example, cool climate lovers like Mecanopsis will grow successfully in Tasmania and the Blue Mountains but will struggle or perish in Brisbane.

Conversely, some plants may do too well and grow more prolifically elsewhere than they do for us in southern Tasmania. As it is impossible for us to trial our plants in every climatic region, we encourage you to research your plantings and to be sensitive to your local bushland and coastal environment. If you have any enquiries, contact the Environment section of your State Government for information relevant to your area.

Special offers: This year we are offering discountson several catalogue items. Wholesale purchasers please observe the wholesale section for bulk rates; most of the retail lines are available as wholesale, but please double check quantities at time of ordering.

Plant Fair : We will be attending the Plant Hunters biennial plant fair in Neika this November. Please contact us closer to the time for the exact date.

Contact us: As we are outside most of the day growing plants and packing your orders, email is the quickest and easiest way to contact us. The nursery is ‘mail order only’ so we do not have public retail area and cannot receive visitors at this point in time. However, we do have a plant stall at Salamanca Market in Hobart, between May and October, and encourage locals and travellers to drop by and collect their orders where practical. You’ll find us directly opposite Salamanca Fruit Market. Please ring us on the mobile at least a week before your intended pickup date.
