Herbs and Medicinal

Many garden perennials are in fact ancient herbs which were once widely used in herbal folk medicine, and now have been forgotten with the widespread distribution of modern pharmaceuticals.

Cynara scolymus ‘Romanesco’ Cynara scolymus ‘Romanesco’. The artechoke is a current favourite for its culinary and ornamental versatility. Best grown at the back of the vegetable garden or in a border with some space. Full sun. 150 cm. 3 for $12 $5.00
Inula magnifica Inula magnifica. Ancient medicinal plant and impressive border perennial, best in clay soil or pond margins. Huge lush leaves followed by yellow upward facing flowers. Part sun to full sun. 140cm. $7.50

Thymus pulegioides Thymus pulegioides. Lemon Thyme, great for savoury meat dishes & marinades , also a long flowering ornamental garden plant.
