Helleborus hybridus 'Slate'
Seedlings from our best slate flowered plants, bred from Ashwood and Phedar plants. The majority of these will come true to parent.
The lovely white form which flowers earlier than the blue, and is equally easy. I raised our original stock plant from one white seedling which we later divided. Thanks Lindy for recovering this for me when I thought it had been lost forever!

A terrific allium from the Hymalayas, large sphaerical flowers up to 10cm across. Grow in well drained soil that dries out well in summer, but doesnt bake. We often add some gravel to ensure the bulbs get sufficient drainage.
Grey blue low growing grass with weeping foliage, used for landscaping applications in mass plantings, edgings, or combined with euphobias, westringia and sedums.
A nice addition to the summer flowering pallette, this persicaria has a softer colour than 'Taurus' with similar good qualities of long flowering and good foliage and infill. Best on heavier fertile soils.
Strong upright variety great for amongst grasses and floral work. Best on drained soils. Cut to the ground in winter every 2-3 years when growth congested.
Select large flowered form of the species, vigorous and long flowering. Medium height bushy plant, earlier than asters but works to same effect amongst other perennials.
Wonderful summer flowering perennial from central Europe from Afghanistan to Tibet. Lavender blue flowers during the summer, popular in eastern herbal medicine.
Perennial verbena, more leafy and bushy than Verbena bonariensis, a good summer border plant with rich colour. Cut back foliage to avoid harbouring mildew in autumn.
This is our cutting grown form which gets to chest high and almost a metre across, like a large lavender. Hundreds of white flowers occur on one plant making this one of our favourite and best selling varieties. The foliage is fine and scallop shaped, allowing plants to shape well into dense mounded form. Pinch out at juvenile stage to develop the best...
This variety is particularly good in autumn when the seedheads elongate and stand above the foliage. Another tall variety for behind the border, best cut down to ground level every few years.
A great filler in the perennial border with large blue flowers. A cross between G. collinum and G. clarkei 'Kashmir Purple' the leaves are very finely divided and often tint yellow when young. A vigorous, freely increasing plant.
Delightful variety from Wychwood, lovely range of foliage colour including greys, purples and pinks. Distinct from 'Matrona' and 'Purple Emperor', with lower more branched form. Looks good all year both in pots and in the ground. My favourite sedum.
A lovely species from Greece, useful as a ground-cover for part-sun with attractive velvety leaves and deep blue flowers. Closely related to Geranium ibiricum.
A terrific low growing variety for foreground plantings, only just over knee high and easier to manage than some of the larger kniphofia. Colourful burnt orange flowers in summer look good with rudbeckia, grasses and sedums.
Selected form of Eucomis comosa, with pink tinged flowers and purple buds. A beautiful and striking perennial, both for foliage and flowers, best grown in a mixed herbaceous border or in a pot with good drainage. Requires good drainage and fertility.
Our own cross from this wonderful alpine which we have increased from division. Beautiful indigo shading to purple, free flowering and vigourous once established. Best in well drained conditions in a pot or the rock garden.
