Origanum 'Hopeleys'
Ornamental origanum with purple flowers, most valued for floral work, and its long flowering period in the summer border. Mild flavour, can also be used in various lamb and poultry dishes.
Blueberry 'Northland'
A cold tolerant highbush variety with a long fruiting period, reputedly self fertile, however combining varieties improves pollination generally.
Thymus vulgaris
Culinary thyme; we use this around the garden as a summer flowering ground cover together with Thymus "Minimus". Great around rocks, in the herb garden or in the border.
Tasmannia lanceolata Female
Attractive shrub with pepper flavoured berries and leaves, use fresh in sweet and savoury dishes, sorbet, preserves. Also a superb container specimen for part shade.
Thymus pulegioides 'Lemon Thyme'
Lemon thyme, great for savoury meat dishes and marinades, also a long flowering ornamental garden plant. Larger than most ground-covering types, it forms a 30 cm mound and flowers well in summer even in dry conditions. Ideal for mass planting amongst stones with paeonies and crocus. Pink flowers.
Tropaeolum tuberosum
Mashua. Grown in the Andes for its edible tubers which are best roasted like potatoes or yams. A climbing, shade loving plant which needs a cool site and good drainage.
Blueberry 'Blue Rose'
One of the earliest fruiting varieties, with tall vigorous growth habit to 2.1m. Once established, prune out central canes to keep bush open. As with most blueberries, fruit production is improved by planting other varieties nearby. Sweet fruit which stores and freezes well, perfect for jams, pies, or just eaten fresh.
Blueberry 'Denise'
Compact broad bush to 1.5m, vigorous and abundant fruiting. Fruit can become very plump and juicy when ripe, which is ideal for home consumption where the fruit is used fresh, but not so suitable for commercial packaging and storage. As with other varieties, acid well drained soil with plenty of mulch and summer moisture.
Gooseberry 'Greenfinch'
A heavy cropper and vigorous grower, more mildew resistant than other varieties. Delicious tangy fruit that will get blushes of pink if tree ripened in a sunny situation.
Grape 'Chardonnay'
Cutting grown from local vineyard stock, the mature vines perform well in our cooler climate and produce a crisp dry light wine which is more like a pinot gris or sauvignon blanc. Summer prune to reduce risk of hosting mildew.

Warm climate blueberry, requiring less winter chill than others, however needs pollinator for best fruiting yeild
Fig 'Black Genoa'
A good variety for temperate climates, these will often fruit twice in a season. The first crop is normally the best, bearing delicious sweet juicy fruit in summer.
Sambucus nigra 'Guincho Purple'
The purple foliage form of the common elderberry with pink tinged flowers. Similar uses as the green form, attractive garden plant.
Grape 'Pinot Noir'
Selected from best local vineyard stock, the mature vines perform well in our cooler climate and produce a complex and rich flavoured pinot noir typical of our southern region. Summer prune to reduce risk of hosting mildew.
