Kniphofia uvaria
This is the traditional "red hot poker" with bright upright orange pokers in summer and evergreen foliage. Easily grown and prolific.
Pratia pedunculata
Often listed incorrectly as Pratia puberula; indigenous to NSW, a vigourous trailing groundcover for shady areas. Effective at suppressing weeds and performs well as mass plantings, starry light blue campanulate flowers borne over a long period. Use in combinaton with viola, epimedium, hosta.
Geranium 'Wargrave Pink'
One of the first perennials my mother gave me, a delightful old fashioned ground cover for under roses, where it will remain well behaved forever, or until overgrown by an invasive neighbour. Easily revived and transplanted however, and not to be confused with 'Claridge Druce' or other inferior Geranium oxonianum hybrids.
Aquilegia 'Heavenly Blue'
A graceful long flowering variety with white centre and light blue petals. Long spurs and more outward facing flower than 'Magpie'.
Hydrangea 'Heinrich Seidel'
Purple violet moptop macrophylla type, can tend towards deep pink in less acid soils; rich colours.
Nepeta 'Dropmore'
Intermediate between Nepeta 'Walkers Low' and faasenii, bushy long flowering cultivar that repeat flowers well after trimming. Use as edging in cottage gardens instead of lavender. Flowers are lavender mauve in colour.
Armeria 'Duke Pearson'
Our own selection, it has taller stems than our other cultivars with wider leaves; a neat evergreen plant with grassy foliage for the border or cottage garden. It has a long flowering period and the long stems make it suitable for floral work.
Lupinus 'Russells Nanum Red'
Rich red flowered form from a strain we grew ten years ago. Thanks to Judy for some fresh seed to enable us to get this strain back into production.
Persicaria 'Taurus'
A useful pond side plant or for wet soils, where it will form a dense ground cover. Bright green leaves and red flowers during summer.
Phlomis samia
An excellent tall perennial for a sunny dryish position with spikes of interesting whorled beige-pink flowers. Cut back to crown after flowering to rejuvenate.Only a few in stock so order early.
Dahlia Cafe au Lait
A terrific Dahlia with massive blooms and a subtle faded soft pink colour like old roses. Only a few in stock.
Lupinus 'Moonshine'
Pale creamy yellow, some with peachy tinges. Separate from reds and purples to keep offspring pure. Note lupins are best cut to the ground after flowering, and allowed to dry off slightly during hot weather. Avoid heavy summer irrigation.
Iris tectorum
Evergreen Iris from Burma, China and Japan. An attractive species with fans of leaves and light blue flowers in early summer. I find the foliage effect of this plant very useful when combined with grasses, sedums and euphorbias. Interesting large seed heads.
Teucrium marum
Drought tolerant groundcover for perennial border; associates well with sedums, santolina, euphorbia, slavias. Grey foliage attractive mounding habit with pink flowers.
Dierama 'Snowbell'
Pretty fairy fishing rod with white flowers often with a blush of pink, tall and prolific, likes good soil.
