Ornamental origanum with purple flowers, most valued for floral work, and its long flowering period in the summer border. Mild flavour, can also be used in various lamb and poultry dishes.

I spotted this dwarf poker in the UK years ago, where I was struck by its compact form and abundant hot-orange pokers. It is winter dormant and makes a good grassy mound of leaves when not in flower.
Attractive long flowering ornamental grass which flowers in summer with miscanthus, sedums, agastache, and echinacea. Very easy and well behaved in clay however in light sandy soils may be overly vigorous and only suit the large garden. Blue and indigo flowers on a bushy plant similar is size and shape to 'Megan's Magic'. Cold hardy and handsome, requires pruning every second year. Suitable for cottage garden and perennial plantings.
This variety is particularly good in autumn when the seedheads elongate and stand above the foliage. Another tall variety for behind the border, best cut down to ground level every few years.
Terrific tall variety, white flowering. Basal foliage produces dozens of 2m flower spikes, superb summer flowering background, plant in heavier fertile soil, shorter in less ideal conditions.
